In the year 1952-1953, Dr. Jacinto Velez Sr., Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the College of Medicine and the Board of Trustees together with the late Epifania Mendoza Velez founded the Cebu (Velez) General Hospital School of Nursing.
In 1968, The Board of Trustees changed the CVGH School of Nursing course to a five-year Bachelor Degree. In 1972-1973 the three-year Nursing course gradually was phased out to respond to the youth desire to reconstruct the curriculum of Nursing from a five-year to a four-year Bachelor Program without compromising the quality and education and its graduates.
The College of Liberal Arts opened its first class in the school year of 1966-1967. Then, in the following years, the other college were opened: the College of Medical Technology in the school year 1967-1968 and the Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapyin 1992-1993.
